124 CRICKET We were blessed with a talented intake of U 14 cricketers this year and the results in the age group were proof of this. The enthusiasm and talent of all these aspirant cricketers was most hear tening to observe. Huber t van Ellewee took over the 1st XI with aplomb. He brought a unique style of coaching to the team and built on the very solid foundations laid by André van Zyl. Rob Scott proved to be an outstanding U 16A coach and inspired the boys to play to their potential. Gareth Moerdyk continues to bring his calm assurance to bear with the 2nd XI while André van Zyl relished the oppor tunity to mould the U 15A side into an impressive unit. Jon Robinson continued to guide and nur ture the U 14A side and their performance at the Charl van Rooyen festival bears testimony to his coaching acumen. Jon Kent continues to assist and work with players and bolstering their mastery of the more technical facets of the game. We are indebted to his contribution. Dean Moodley took on the role as analyst and spent every Saturday observing teams and writing detailed repor ts on players’ and team performances. This assisted coaches in addressing areas that needed attention. Our grounds and wickets were immaculately prepared by Ayanda Peter and his team of hard working ground staff and we are extremely grateful of their effor ts. An exciting addition next year will be the construction of an electronic scoreboard on the A H Smith oval, complete with clock tower. It is hoped that this project will be completed in time for the closing 2015 season. The Silcock field continues to be a work in progress and the wicket is star ting to settle nicely. The College took par t in a number of prestigious festivals and all sides acquitted themselves well. It is essential for Kearsney to play against schools that we do not always play against. Outstanding victories against strong opponents were achieved by a number of our sides and the more exposure our players get against the best in the country, the better it is for the development of our cricketers. I would like to thank Andrew Brether ton for all the work that his team has put in this year. The catering staff, headed by Sigrid Ceronio, deserves a special accolade for the excellent catering our staff, visiting coaches, umpires, parents and players enjoyed during the year. Keith Thompson is also thanked for his continued hard work, including the refurbishment of the cricket pavilion. Lastly, my thanks and appreciation to the Headmaster for his unstinting suppor t. Neil Peacock Cricket Kearsney cricket is in a very healthy state.
