133 CRICKET U 14A It is not often that you come across a set of talented individuals with a fantastic team dynamic. This side was well-balanced and had the drive to win and on more than one occasion this was needed when we found ourselves in a bit of bother. The side enjoyed a very successful season and they were unbeaten in the Charl van Rooyen festival having notched up victories against the likes of Pretoria Boys, Jeppe, Bishops, St Andrews Grahamstown and Selborne. Spin bowling dominated the attack whilst the seamers did their best to make headway. Rober t Koenig and his spin twin, Jethro Strydom throttled the opposition into submission after an impressive opening seam attack from Carl Heunis and Kyle Sewbaran. The strong left arm attack helped with no fewer than four left arm bowlers making up the team attack. A fine century from Rober t Koenig early in the season against Glenwood was followed up by a few 30s. It seems that juniors are just not able to build an innings at this stage of their careers but with time, I am sure that we will hear more from these players. Several highlights come to mind when looking at the over-all season. The win against the much fancied Clifton team was cer tainly a big win for the boys but their play at the Charl van Rooyen, especially in the 20/20 night match against St Andrews, was perhaps my pick of the best. As captain and wicket keeper,William Patton did an extremely good job and I was pleasantly surprised with the progress that the side made during the year. My thanks are extended to the parents who were out every Saturday. Jon Robinson Played: 13 Won: 9 Lost: 3 Drew: 1 U 14B The team had a most successful season and was blessed with both talent and depth. Two highlights were our convincing wins against Hilton and Michaelhouse. There were some pleasing batting performances from Carl Combrink,Timothy Bean and Dylan Bissett and some superb bowling from Michael Brokensha and Alexander Calliontzis. I was pleased with the enthusiasm and positive attitude shown during the course of the year and would encourage the players to work hard at their game. The team was well led by Guy Morgan.
