I firmly believe that in those preseason sessions this team created the hunger to do the one stripe justice and to prove a lot of critics wrong. I admire how these boys have grown into skilled rugby players. I would also like to thank all the coaches for all their investment in these players: it helps me when they arrive on Stott already moulded into Kearsney players. A significant factor is the leadership that was so evident in this team. Captain Tristan Tedder, playing in his third season was the glue in this team. Ably assisted by Tijde Visser and Stephen Tedder, both exceptional leaders, he gave everything he had to offer to the one stripe. Moments that stand out for me include beatingWestville (a school of some 1200 boys); beating Pretoria Boys (the largest boys school in the country with 1650 boys); beating Hilton on Gilfillan for the first time since 2006 and beating Dale College for the second time in history. Another special moment was witnessing Tristan Tedder running onto the park for his 50th cap. I would like to thank the 1st XV for the manner in which they played and to wish those of them moving on much luck playing at club level, varsity cup, provincial or even national level. I would also like to thank Rob Scott for his assisstence; Sally van der Merwe and Joanne van Musschenbroek and the first aiders; Paula Isaac for the video footage;Tracy van den Aardweg for the photos; Dr Shuker for his knowledge of Kearsney rugby; Glen Hagemann, Mike Marshall and John Zietkiewicz for their medical exper tise; Justin Birsher for his training and the Headmaster for his enthusiastic suppor t. Also my thanks are extended to the old boys, parents and dedicated suppor ters and Brent Grimsley and Rowan Thorpe the physios. It has been an honour to have been involved with the one stripe for four years. The pride that the players display is admirable. I will sincerely miss the atmosphere in the change room as well as Shosholoza being sung by the school. I had the privilege of working with an exceptional Kearsney coach, Barend Steyn, and will reminisce the numerous feats that we experienced. I wish all future young players who will don this special jersey the best of luck.
