156 RUGBY U 16C | U 16D We began the season with 36 enthusiastic and motivated players. But as the season wore on, formidable attrition took its toll. Injury and sickness made significant inroads into our numbers and by the end of the season we could only field one side. Be that as it may, the boys were magnificent. They gave no quar ter against superior opposition and played with fire and passion. Their attitude to the game, both at practice and on match days, was impressive. Highlights of the season were a credible draw against Maritzburg College and a hard-fought win against Westville. The D side played champagne rugby in their wins against the St Stithians and St Charles C sides. It was a pleasure for Matthew Laskey and I to have worked with this group of boys. We look forward to their progression into the senior ranks where they will have an oppor tunity to display their spor ting prowess and utilise the skills they have learnt in this very demanding season.
