Much was expected of them and they delivered as a team, registering good wins in the opening two fixtures against Nor thwood andWestville. The team then par ticipated in the Jeppe U 16 rugby festival during the April holidays. We lost a physical opening encounter to the hosts but showed character in fighting back courageously to record good wins over Parktown Boys and KES. The vast improvement on tour bred confidence in the squad and a winning streak of five games, including good wins against Hilton, St Charles and Clifton followed and the boys were looking forward to the challenging Maritzburg College fixture. All credit must go to them for fighting so hard, despite going down in a tight encounter. After three more wins against St Stithians, DHS and Michaelhouse, the team lost to a strong Glenwood side. The boys were truly tested but they responded well to the challenges that they faced. It was an honour and privilege to coach this talented group of boys this season. It was wonderful to see them grow as rugby players and I was par ticularly impressed by the individual talents on display each week. Dean Moodley Played: 13 Won: 10 Lost: 3 U 16B The season was one in which the team struggled to gain momentum due to the extensive changes each week. A par ticular highlight was against Maritzburg College in which the team fought hard and surprised the opposition who expected to win easily. The forwards performed well generally but the lack of depth in back line players resulted in a lack of continuity and flair. In the first half of the season, DavidWeaver captained well and his excellent performances saw him elevated to the A team. Rigby Clark, Chris Moore, Grant Louw, SinekhonoTenza and Cameron Maynard consistently played hard each game. I would like to thank the C team coaches who were able to give valuable input on players performing well. Despite the difficult circumstances, the players grew and enjoyed the season. Myles Delport Played: 9 Won: 2 Lost: 7 With grateful thanks to the McCleave Family
