The team played five matches against KES, St. Albans, Helpmekaar, Clifton and Pretoria Boys. Kearsney dominated and picked up good wins against all the team, except an unlucky loss to Helpmekaar. The team played attractive rugby and Gcinathina Gumede enter tained the crowds with his 14 tries. The boys returned from the holiday with new found confidence and team spirit. Although not all the results went their way, they showed spirit and passion in dominating opponents much bigger than themselves. The lessons learned this year will ensure that this team will do very well in future years. They scored 84 tries in 15 matches and had a most enjoyable and successful season. Hubert van Ellewee and Jake Adam Played: 15 Won: 10 Lost: 5 U 14 B The team enjoyed a wonderful season, and with the quality and attractive style of rugby played, the future looks promising. Hailing from various prep schools, the boys quickly gelled and, through hard work, developed team spirit and became a formidable unit. The forwards worked hard on ball-retention, ball skills, running into contact and winning quality ball at the breakdowns. Our backline used every oppor tunity to hone their skills and creating oppor tunities to score tries. Our goal was to play a quick game and speed it up at every oppor tunity in order to catch the opposition off guard. This duly paid off and the team only suffered losses to Maritzburg College,Westville and Glenwood. It was a most enjoyable and successful season. Well done boys – two; three! Kearsney! Thinus Els Played: 9 Won: 6 Lost: 3 U 14 C The boys had an excellent season built upon a solid base of skills development that was our focus right from the star t. The team can be proud of their enthusiastic approach to learning new techniques and structures of play. Our game plan was built around forward dominance, ball retention and organised defence. We did well in our first game of the season and managed to maintain forward momentum right up until our loss to Glenwood in the final game. The highlight was our victory over Maritzburg College in which we were 2 tries down within the first 10 RUGBY With grateful thanks to: FOORD RECRUITMENT Offering a personal approach to managing your recruitment needs.
