Sometimes there can be so much on the go that we do not always notice the things that matter most. Christmas is often like this.There are already decorations in shops, and the annual Christmas playlist has begun to receive air time.We make lists and plans, but usually do not pause long enough to consider the great Mystery that is the Christmas story – that God stepped into our world and our humanity as Jesus. In Jesus, God has come close to us. Because of our tendency to not notice things that really matter, the season of Advent is set aside to help us prepare our hear ts for the coming of Jesus. I have encouraged the boys to make use of an Advent calendar, and while eating the chocolate each day, to take a moment to give God thanks for the gift of Jesus. Perhaps there are other ways you can prepare to receive Christ at Christmas.Whatever you do, may you know the nearness of God who comes to each one of us. Rev.
