Visif to Epworth.—On 25th November a team of eight music lovers (?) visited Epworth to debate with their music club the subject,"That outside the dance hall jazz has little claim to be regarded as music." Strong opinions were expressed on both sides, our team, of course, opposing the motion. Groves and Hamlyn led for Kearsney, and Munro replied. The motion was carried by a very small majority. Library.—We acknowledge with grateful thanks the gift by Mr, Spargo of a set of Waverley Novels, and 25 historical works and biographies, most of them concerned with South African History. Mr. Medworth now has control of all the sporting activities of the School, taking over the cricket from Mr. Reece, who has been appointed Housemaster of Finningley. Mr. Oram is Housemaster of Gillingham, THE ANNUAL PRIZE-CIVINC The Ghairman of the Board of Governors, Mr. W ]. Williams presided. In his annual report, the Headmaster said that it was a great pleasure to present the first account of the progress of the Gollege in its new home, and it was particularly gratifying to see Mr, Williams, who had had so much to do with the success of the new venture, occupying the Ghair at that gathering. The School opened the year at the old Kearsney with 78 boarders and three day scholars, and it began the second half of the year at Botha's Hill with 92 on the roll. Two more boys had been enrolled since. There had been no change in Staff, apart from the appointment of Mr. j. H. Hopkins, M,A,, an Old Boy, at the beginning of the year, "I emphasise yet once more," said the Headmaster,"that this means more to the boys, the parents, the work and the Old Boys than can adequately be expressed in this report, I hope that the appointment of Mr. Hopkins is only the first of many more to follow in which an Old Boy will give at least a few years of his teaching career to his old School, One more, indeed, joins us next year: Mr, E, G, Smith, B.A,, whose post33
