CRICKET We have enjoyed a very full programme of matches this term; on most Saturdays there are three teams in action, and on one Saturday there were four teams playing. Mr. Howard Foss of Berea Rovers has come up on Wednesdays to take 1st net, and there is no doubt that the 1st XI has benefited considerably by his coaching. The outstanding performance this term was Groom's 100 in 25 minutes against Marists. This score included 1 1 sixes and six fours. Mr. C. Foss presented him with a bat for this feat. Mr. C. Jackson presented a bat for the most improvedplayer in the 2nd Division, and this was won by Sparks. The Armenians offered two bats for the 1st XI; these were won by Bazley (156) and Foss (108) against Technical Day School. We are taking part, this year, in the Schools' Week, held in Durban. The side will be chosen daily from the 14 players selected, of whom six are from Kearsney (Bazley, Balcomb, Boyd, Groom, Robinson, Foss), five from Marists, two from Mansfield Road and one from Bulwer Park. This ought to be very valuable experience for those taking part. Bazley will captain the side. 1st XI colours have been awarded to Groom, Robinson, Putterill and Foss. 12th October.
