ball was booted ahead; Ellwood dived just in time to score far out. Robinson was again promineni. It was particularly dusty and must have been very uncomfcrtable in the scrums. 24th August. Kearsney College v. Glenwood 2nd XV. Home. Won 31-3. A bright open game, and but for weak handling at fly-half, the score would have been much greater. Mark and Groom both scored twice and Boyd, French, Ellwood and Lee also scored. Considering the windy conditions, the handling on the whole was good. There was much better team work, and there was a decided improvement in the backing up. The forwards played well, until a substantial lead had been obtained, when individualism became a marked feature. 7th September. Kearsney College v. Ixopo. Durban Track. Won 7-0. This was a scrappy game, spoilt by wet conditions, and forwards being allowed too much latitude around the scrums. The defence on both sides was very solid. In the early stages we saw little of the ball, but found Ixopo afraid to swing the ball. In the later stages we saw more of the ball, but just failed to reach the line on three occa sions. Groom was particularly well marked, and had little room to move in He was unfortunate to sustain a leg injury. Mark goaled a long range penalty and dropped a goal. This was all the scoring that took place. The forwards played weM, and the backs with Mark in the lead were well up in defence. Mth September. Kearsney College v. Marists. Track, Durban. Won 1 1 -3. 11 was left to the last game of the season for the best game yet played by the firsts. Forawrds and back alike were on the spot. It was wet and slippery but the game never lagged, and was played at a very fast pace throughout. I doubt if any College forwards have ever played better. The set scrums were evenly divided, but we were more effective in the loose. Paul, Foss and Boyd scored, Mark converting one try. It would be impossible to praise any one member for conspicuous play when the whole side responded so nobly, and played so much like a team. Although we were cutweighted in the scrums, Marists made no impression on the determination shown by our forwards to be up and doing. JUNIOR MATCHES. D.H.S. (Under 14) 0 v. Kearsney 14. Won.
