Chronicle-1961

UNDER 14 This division has shown great signs of promise: one or two individuals have shone while the rest of the team has kept up a very high standard. Hipkin and Morgan have shown some attrac tive batting which augurs very well for the side and has contributed much in runs, while at the same time Hart and Verbaan, though technically not as perfect, have shown spirit and attack and no unwillingness to score. It would be good if the qualities of attack and perfection could be copied in all the team's batsmen! The bowling ofthe side has improved immensely and we have seen some impressive pace attackfrom Austin and Strydom, the latter borrowed from the Under 13a. Morgan, Dyer and Verbaan have also taken wickets. Fielding too has been good on the whole, though there have been "off-days" that must be eliminated. RESULTS vs. Highbury: Lost. The "B" team had rather an unfortunate season in that most of the few fixtures which they did have were cancelled for one reason or another. They did however perform that invaluable function ofa"B"team: to keep the"A"on its toes and to provide competition for it during the weekly practices. P.Le F. 158
