KEARSNEY PARLIAMENT PROGRAMME August 11th Government Motion: "That Christian National Education be enforced throughout the country". Proposed by Hon. Minister for Justice(M.B. Lyons), and opposed by Hon. Member for Creighton (R. M.Crewe). Motion lost. August 25th Opposition Motion: "That in view of the restless situation in the Republic, more attention should be paid to South Africa's internal defence." Proposed by Hon. Member for Botha's Hill (W.M.Beckett), and opposed by Hon. Minister for Bantu Admini stration(B. G. Williams). Motion lost. September 8th Non-political discussion on the problems which face South Africa to-day, with suggested solutions. September 22nd Government Motion: "That a change of Government would not be in the best interests of this country". Proposed by Hon. Ministerfor Lands(A.M.R.Bishop),and opposed by Hon.Member for Hluhluwe(C.D.L. Hemson). Motion lost. October 13th Debate with Durban City Parliament: "That a change of Government would not be in the best interests of this country". Proposed by Messrs. Volker and Benson (D.C.P.) and Messrs Bishop and Meyer (K.C.P.), and opposed by Messrs. Volpe and Robinow (D.C.P.) and Messrs. Lissauer and Broom (K.C.P.). Judges: Messrs. K. Sutler-Gore and J. H. Hopkins. Final points allocation revealed only.6% difference between the sides,and debate adjudged a tie. October 27th Government Motion: "That T.V. should be introduced into the Republic". Proposed by Hon. Leader of the Opposition (F. Lissauer) and opposed by Hon. Minister for Education, Arts and Science(A.Lowenstein). Motion lost. November 10th Opposition Motion: "That the Government's Bantustan policy is economically impossible, ethically unsound, and not in the interests of the Bantu people." Proposed by the Opposition and opposed by the Government. No set leaders. Motion won.
