The First XI had a good season and there has probably never been a season at Kearsney with so many runs scored. Bruce Hulett shattered all records by scoring 1,012 during the year, including 3 centuries in one term, at an average of 40.5 per innings. Graham Dyer also had a good season with the bat, but he went through a bad patch towards the end. His 794 runs at an average of 34.5 was another fine effort. Anton Procter again showed his all-round abihty. He was forced, through injury, to miss seven matches, but ended the season with 574 runs and 59 wickets to his credit. Knox also had a good all-round season with nearly 500runsand 39 wickets. The team enjoyed their cricket and as a result gave enjoyment to the spectators. The emphasis has been on attack. The batting to number seven was sound. The fielding on the whole was good and Hulett developed into a good wicket-keeper. Unfortunately the fast bowling has not been up to standard. There have been too many deliveries that have attacked neither the batsman nor the wicket. 1962 should produce a fair side if another opening batsman can be found, and opening bowlers materialise. 120
