After an Easter tour to Port Elizabeth which taught us a tremendous amount about hockey, the first team moulded into a very effective combination. Results were good: Won 8, drew 2, lost 2, but more important was the brand of hockey played. The team developed a most intelligent and attractive short passing game and there was a finesse about their play which has not been evident recently. Our congratulations to Peter Pearse who made the Natal Schools team, and Glen Jennings and Mark Logan who were selected for Natal B. In 8 games we had 4 goals scored against us,40 scored by us. We won all eight games. Starting off with a very inexperienced team, we managed to build up some good combinations and lost only one match during the season. The spirit was good, and we fought hard.
