Chronicle-1977

The season started well, but ended with a few losses, due to players not being able to play because of injuries sustained elsewhere. Bush made a good captain providing his team with encouragement when needed. The team showed great potential, with ball-control, positional play, passing and teamwork generally being of a very good standard. However, results against some of the stronger teams were disappointing due to lack of purpose in the circle. The ability to score goals is present, but the direct approach is still lacking. The defence was always sound. The team should fare well in the future once the problems in the circle up front are ironed out. All the best to you. The "B" team unfortunately had only two matches, after several cancellations by opponents who found themselves unable to play. Unfortunately, hockey is not a major sport at this level, so such difficulties occur. The team did, however, acquit itself well both in matches and at practice and the enthusiasm and willingness to participate was most encouraging. Some players have the potential to do well in the future and experi ence will hopefully ensure this. Opponents YellowwQod Park 1st Malvern Primary 1st Result W W For 5 4 Against 1 0 M.VASSARD S5
