Chronicle-1977

M. Selby - Wing. Fourth highest points scorer alter Hohls, Temiett and Goupiile. Al though fairly light in build he developed into a useful attacking wing; also, his defence was very sound. He is fast and with a little more determination should go a long way in this game. Colours. A. Taylor - Scrum-half, vice-captain. As captain of the team, in the absence of Jollands, for the first six games. Tinny played an invaluable role in moulding the team together. He has the happy knack of saying just the right thing to a player at Just the right time, whether it be encouragement or a well deserved llea in the ear. His play was of a very high standard and his tackling superb. If he continues in the game he should go a long way.Colours. K. Temiett — Fullback and tly-half. Always gave of his best and always trying to do better. When he cut a line he always sent his wing away on a clear run. Stayed calm even when under heavy pressure. His tackling improved tremendously during the season. P. Walker — Lock. "P.W." was our only real jumper in the line out and as such gave sterling service to the team. Being fast for a lock, he also shone in the loose play. All he needs is a little more "devil" in him to become a really great player. Colours. Lack of finish and determination cost this team any chance of consistent success. It was disappointing to see close matches lost through sheer carelessness. Whiting, Haird, Hudson, Lewthwaite, Shuker and Small showed glimpses of real talent but only Haird and Hudson used this regularly to good effect. These 6 players will all be returning next year and will make a greater contribution with better temperament. 2nd XV RESULTS Opponents Result For Against MBG College L 3 50 Pinetown W 48 4 Hilton L 6 19 Westville L 4 15 P.
