Thiselton, K. de Villiers. CHAMPIONSHIPS: In the Senior tournament (Old Boys' trophy) for which there was an entry of 55, the top seed, Whiting, went through to win without dropping a game. The final, in which he beat Shuker 9-4, 9-7, 9-4, was an untidy match but, then, most of Whiting's matches will continue to be untidy until he can develop a little more control over his phenomenal power. When that day comes, whichIam sure is not far off, he will be a devastatingly good player. There was a disappointingly small entry of 33 for the Junior (under 15) champion ship (Negus trophy). The No. 1 seed, D. Thiselton, won the title with a comfortable 9-6, 9-2, 9-6 win over G. Rogers (seeded 2) in a 20-minute final. WOMEN'S SQUASH: Congratulations to the Kearsney 'A' Women's team which won the 1977 Durban and District Women's League championship Wendy Zaayman, Nan Townshend, Helen Gibson (Captain), and Edna Perez amassed 56 points to take them to an 8-point lead over the runners-up. STAFF LEAGUE SQUASH: Having won promotion to the 5th Division of the Durban and Districts Open League for 1977, the Kearsney 'A' team have, predictably, found the going considerably heavier than it was in the 6th Division and, at the time of writing, are about halfway down the log of 16 teams. The 'B' team comprising mainly invited nonstaff are lingering near the bottom of the 7th Division. A. THISELTON 51
