The successful Under 15 tennis team,Mr K.Fish presiding The Appletiser Finals,Stellenbosch, 1978 The National Under 15 Teams Championship Twenty boys' and twenty girls' teams from the Republic, South West Africa and Rhodesia, who had all won regional play-offs, assembled in Stellenbosch from the 14 to the 20 December. Kearsney was represented by Andrew Hudson and Brett Devereux while the other Natal Schools were Pietermaritzburg Girls High, Danville Girls High and Westville Boys High. After the quarter-final rounds the top twelve teams in each competition were advanced to the Appletiser Bowls section, while the weaker teams played in the Appletiser Plate division. As one might imagine, the standard of play was particularly high. One had to constantly remember that these players were all under fifteen - their standard of play being so 'professional'. It soon became obvious that schools which had a good deal of coaching and competitive playing, had the edge. Country schools soon found themselves in great difficulty as they could not maintain the constant pressure.
