NIGHT WATCH Crisp crackling;grappling; The fire lit a blank wall Which was impervious to us all, except To the keen-eyed hunter, masked by the veil of dread — the leopard. 1 sat, still as that rock. The killer's foundation. Through the silent sighing of the wilderness I saw the stealthy movement. The wondrous wilderness paused patiently As he sailed, stalked Intrepidly back into the dark night Of a mystic and cryptic inheritance. R.D.WELLS-FORM HI THE FISH EAGLE He alights; Unfolding, resplendent with ephemeral beauty Before gliding through dappled shadows Where tall trees trace the sun's path. And like a child, flies to a motherly embrace, Floating on swirling torrents which he cleaves, majestically. Soaring high in lofty majesty he masterly surveys His domain: crawling water. Suddenly, glimpsing sight ofa silver phantom, He shoots, receding wings and outstretched talons. The heralded hunter plunges, clasps and, victorious, ascends To sate his hunger. R.D. WELLS-FORM HI THE DROPLET The drop hit the water with a small, concentrated, downward thrust. It rose forth, out of the space, only to fall upon its own rippled kind. Silence filled the space. C.
