In his younger days he was also interested in girls, beer and motor cars! - but rugby refereeing is still his main love. For years he was a first league referee in Durban where he made many friends. He also serves as a lieutenant in the Citizen Force. He was always helped by Wendy, a hardworking, good wife at home, but a formidable opponent on the squash court.
