MCMICHAEL The Equestrian Society This society wasformed in 1992following a request by a number of pupils. The numbers of the society were rea sonably small during the first year, but they soon began to grow and we now have a full club. The member ofstaffin charge ofthe club is Mev.Randall and every altemate week we travel to Hammersdale where the boys attend riding classes. They are each assigned a horse according to their riding ability and they are then sent to one of three differ ent arenas. Here they are taughtthe basics.Oncethey have developed their confidence, they are taught how tojump, trot and canter. Most of the boys enjoyjumping the most and two ofour better riders,D.Emanuel and J. Lewis, are forming a school team. This team will be performing at shows such as Natal Pony Club,Natal Interschools,Sappi Horse Trails and various other shows around the province. These boys are instructed by Mitch Hansen and the Eques trian Society would like to thank her for all her hard work over the years. The boys have really enjoyed her lessons and parents can be assured that their sons are in very capa ble hands. N. VANAARDT 40
