This wasfor me anotherenjoyable year as2nd team coach. Theteam was brim-full ofyoung buttalented cricketers.A breakdown ofresults show that we won 3,drew 6,and lost 4matches.All the players madesome contribution toward the team's successin one way or other during the course of the season. The side wasfortunate to have had many good batsmen, giving the team considerable batting depth. This is reflected by the fact that the side scored over 150 runs on nine occasions.J.Mackey wasthe mostconsistent bats man, scoring 344 runs in the year, followed by W. Lee with 253runs,G.Thomson with 233,and J. Caulfield 232 runs. The depth in the bowling department wasconsiderable but it often failed to bowl out the opposition. The new ball attack was led by S.Ivey(best bowling was4for 10)and L.McDougal(bestbowling was7for20).Thesetwo bowl ers were ably supported by G.Hunter(bestfigures were6 for 19), W. Lee (best figures of 3 for 8), and J. Francis wbose best figures were 3for 22.The fielding in general, was good but there were a number of occasions when we dropped some simple yet vital catches. I am sure that the result ofone ortwo matches may have been quite different if we had taken all our chances in the field. The team was admirablu led by J. Mackey and his leadership qualities developed as the year progressed. He always led the team by example. "V Standing: J. Francis, R.Dunster,G,Hunter,W.Lee,P. Smith. Sitting: G.Thompson,S. Hipkin,J.
