Chronicle-1994

The last two rugby matches were a disappointment al though we tried hard and gave everything. We just couldn't get everything together. The interpretation of the rules by the referees made it even harderfor us.Play ing in those last two rugby matches I gave every single drop of energy that I had left. And when the last match finished,I had absolutely nothing left. It was the same for the other team members as well. The long trip home was perfectly timed and we arrived back at school the nightthe boarders were due back.School started the next day and I wasn'tin the mood to begin the second halfof the year. What an experience it was. The cricket tour ofEngland which was very tiring, followed by the tough rugby tour toZimbabwe.Playing in all the cricket matches and then in all the rugby matches made it very demanding. It wasn't much ofa holiday, each day spent playing cricket or rugby or travelling from one place to the other. It was worthwhile and a greatexperience and I suppose I would do it again if I was offered the opportunity. by FERGUSPRINGLE 2ND XI Regular members: F. Pringle, M.Evans, J. Francis, S. Picken, E. Larsen, L. Baai, J. Seago, M. Prinsloo, G. Uren, S. Rutherford, T. Wise, G. Hunter, M. Dale, S. Westerhoff. I was fortunate enough to inherit this very talented side after they had enjoyed the expert guidance of Mr Fred Cocks in the first term.Underthe able captaincy ofScott Picken, the side enjoyed some pleasing results. Some of the qualities I appreciated in this side were the dedica tion of the players and their fighting spirit when under pressure.Impeccable manners,self-motivation and true team spirit were qualities inherent in each team mem ber. My thanks to the team and the parents who sup ported their sons so enthusiastically this year. Results; V.
