What impressed me was their discipline, both on and off the field, and their en thusiasm for the game.Richard Brown was an excellent captain, setting the highest example of behaviour and dress. There were a numberofoutstanding individual perform ances. Firstly in tbe batting: Dale and Prinsloo had sev eral good scores, and secondly in the bowling: Wise tak ing 5 wickets without conceding a run was a highlight. Other good performances came from Baai, Seago and Henderson. L.RDANIELS 4TH XI Regularplayers:R.Andrews,A.Buchanan,W.Farmer, B.Gelder,P. Goldie,D.Hooper(Capt.),R.Hulshof, S. McHugh,R.Kirkman,G.Morgan,M.Pearce,A.Rocher, D.Takis, N.van Aardt,R. Williams. Scorer: K.Hall. Although our results were rather disappointing, the team played with commitment and determination. We strug gled with numbers in the fourth term owing to matric and postmatric players dropping out to revise for the examinations. In spite of our rather mediocre perform ance, the players always approached matches with en thusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed their year's cricket. Pinetown: V. Glenwood: D.GOLDHAWK UNDER ISA Regular players: G.Picken (Capt.),A.Gait, R.Baxter, H. Young, A. Johnson, R. Gregory, D. Parker, D. Hourquebie,R.Lee,S.Brown,B.Polkinghome,D.Bull (1st term only). In January 1994H.Young and G.Picken were members ofthe Natal Under 15 team that participated in the P.G. Bison week in Cape Town.Although this team did not do particularly wellthe experience gained by these play ers was invaluable as they both played significant roles in the success of the Under I5A XI this year. At an initial meeting it was agreed that we would play positive cricket, that we would take chances in order to gain wins and that the individual players would setthem selves goals for the year.As a result ofthis the expecta tions were high and ultimately the season could be de scribed as having been very successful indeed. The batting was consistently good witb major contribu tions being made by all the top order players. The bowl ing was varied with S.Brown making a major contribu tion in tbe pace division while both G. Picken and D. Hourquebie bowled the slower"stuff wonderfully well. The fielding was tidy and the catching good and as such we never gave too much away in the field. Guy Picken captained the side superbly and was able to get the best out of the players. He is a popular captain with good ideas and a solid grasp ofthefundamentals ofcaptaincy. The boys were lucky to be supported by an enthusiastic parental backing and I too appreciated this. Mr Jay Govender must be thanked for his meticulous attention to our fields and Mr Phil Ratcliffe too must be thanked for his organizational skills as Master-in-charge of cricket. This has been a memorable season and I am certain that the boys enjoyed it and that they will continue to serve Kearsney cricket well in future seasons. RG.KING Results: V.
