The attitude to the game was positive, motivated and disciplined dur ing matehes and determined to work hard to improve during practices.Fielding was generally ofa high stand ard, though occasional regrettable lapses in concentra tion did result in a few dropped catches. The quality of the bowling improved vastly throughout the year as the value of line and length was realized. The batting also improved greatly, as the skills developed and the play ers became more experienced in selecting the deliveries to block and those to hit. Ofa total of9games played,6 were won,2lost and 1 drawn-a very creditable set ofresults for the year! Results: V. Pinetown UI3B: V. Northwood U13B: V. Maritzburg College U13B: V. D.H.S. UNDER 13C Regular players: S. O'Callaghan (Capt.), T. Akal, M. Beaton,A.Becker,A.Britten-Kelly,P.Brown,R.Elliott, W.Glasspoole, W.Jonas, N.Liebmann,L. Preston,D. Rice,W.Shire, M.Webster. This year's Under 13C has been a highly motivated group of players who have shown real growth in their ability. S. O'Callagban has developed well as a captain in his ability to read the game and motivate his team. With his changefrom spin-bowling he has shownsome real pace. N. Liebmann and A. Britten-Kelly bave bowled very consistently. We have been fortunate in having fairly strong batting down to number eight in the order. The weather, especially in the 4th term, deprived us ofa number ofgames.Ofthe games we did play, these were the results: V. Pinetown V. Northwood V. Maritzburg College V. Thomas More V. Highbury 2nds P. CRUNDWELL UNDER 13D played twice played twice won twice won drew and lost lost lost It would be difficult to mention the regular players as the numbers and players changed weekly. For practice afternoons this group ofenthusiastic crick eters combined with the U14D's to form two teams that played limited over games against each other. They had to contend with thick mist, lack of stumps and bails, a mat that rippled in the wind, and often made do with a borrowed cricket-ball. However, this did not dampen their enthusiasm and their reward was chocolate cake and juice from Mrs Shone. Match V. Pinetown: won by 2 wickets. GRAHAMSHONE 86 Kearsney Chronicle 1994
