U15CCRICKET REPORT Captains: D Taylor and M-J van Schoor. Regular Players: M Glass, B McCann, NHendry, K Chapman, C Dowe, J Colley, GGibson,S Mackay,M Tswala,W Wasserman, M Schroeder. The team can be very proud ofthe 2001 season. The players were motivated and committed. The results reflect an average season with 55% wins but that is only a part ofthe picture. The enjoyment derived from the game and the value ofplaying a team sport goes beyond the results on paper. Many ofthe players enjoyed individual triumphs; promotion to a higher team, coming back to make a good score after a lean patch, taking three wickets(including a hatrick)in a match or even just hitting their first six. Some boys may not have a specific highlight but they have all made a valuable contribution to the team. The team was ably led by Dale Taylor until his promotion to the B team, and then by M J van Schoor. Best Bowling Taylor Our batting was steady although we were not always able to get after the bowling. The fielding was adequate and the area that needed most improvement. The bowling was generally of a high standard but there were lapses to mediocrity. Cricket remains one of the mentally toughest games to play and I witnessed many ofthe players coming to terms with that reality. Few of the skills required in the game ofcricket are natural and need to be worked at. »D CATO Played -11 Won -6 Lost - 3 Best Batting Dowe 56 vs DHS Glass 55 vs Westville Chapman 51 vs College van Schoor 49 n.o. vs Michaelhouse 6/3 vs Westville van Schoor AI13 vs Michaelhouse Schroeder 4/25 vs DHS(including a hatrick) Thwala 3/0 vs Michaelhouse(hatrick) Colley 3/12 vs DHS Glass 3/5 vs Michaelhouse Chapman 3/25 vs Westville
