Chronicle-2001

Captain: S Molloy Coach: K Smit ^ Report: 0The team had a useful pre-season tour to 1 ) Northern Natal where we won 2 of the 3 matches and were leading a powerful Nelspruit side well into the second half before succumbing to their physical presence. Results ofthe Tour were vs Yryheid High vs Pioneer vs Nelspruit Won 26-17 Won 84 - 12 Lost 7-17 in-goal late in the second half. This was against a Provincial Welsh Schools side which was made up from a number of schools. All the players developed a great deal in ability, self-beliefand confidence and should be pleased and more than just satisfied with their efforts. Mention must be made ofSimon Molloy's and Andrew Borgen's leadership - it was great. Borgen also showed some sublime fly-half play, no more so than in the second Hilton game when he sliced through the opposition at a time when the match was being hotly contested and this put the game out oftheir hands. It was a pleasure coaching this team that showed so much dedication and determination to succeed, and that is exactly what they did. Well done! Unfortunately,we could not keep the momentum going and lost the first three matches ofthe local season. We got on top of a more than useful Pretoria Boys' side who were a bit weary from the train and this seemed to give the team the confidence they needed. We really did "click" during this match and never looked back after that. By the end ofthe season we were prepared to take on anyone from anywhere, as was seen in the Swansea game where we ran the ball from Alltheplayersshould he pleasedand more that justsatisfied with their efforts. < I m^m ■ n ■ Seated:D Wan der Westhuizen, S Reinertsen, S Molloy (Captain), MrKSmith, A Borgen (Wlc),ZKhoza,H Mnyayiza 2ndRow;D Cameron, G Surgeson, A Batchelor,D Wicks, M Rich,0Bovic Back Row:X Wan Heerden, L Martin, M Sawyer, L Wan Lelyveld, M Bullard. 123 QQ
