SA JuniorTennis Championships In the September holidays 2 major tournaments were held in Bloemfontein. Kearsney had a large number of boys participating: C Farquharson,S Coetzee, M Reid-Robertson,S Alexander, C Coetzee and and M Krog. Denness Trophy R Canny S Simpson J Wilkinson I Patterson-Roberts M Reid-Robertson C Howson B Johnson Bonnefin Trophy C Morgan J Gorven A Candotti R Armstrong M Rosati Witness Trophy M Reid-Robertson M Hobson N Hendry G Prestidge G Veale J Edgecombe CCoetzee won both the singles titles and finished the year as SA number 1 in the Ul4 age group. Unfortunately, it was not a particularly active year for the club as it was only started in the 3rd term. Although judging from the number of boys who attended practices the interest was there. It was very often a case of there being far too many boys. The boys themselves really enjoyed the games showing plenty of talent and skill. The games were played at a very social level amongst the boys themselves. Regrettably, we did not have fixtures against any schools. This would have shown the true talent of the boys. All in all, fun was had all round. Iam positive that the club will grow from strength to strength in the future, with many more boys showing their interest in the club. »JARCHARY 137
