Although in the lead during most of the chukj^^his was always very narrow. Kearsney eventually emerged winners 7-6. The commitment displayed by the team in this opening match was a characteristics which carried them successfully through the rest ofthe season. Thepenultimategame of ° the season wasa return match againstMaritzburg College. The first home game was against Kingsway and enjoying home advantage and displaying some very good polo the Kearsney team won easily 12-2. Glenwood away saw us up against the best coached team we played during the season. Detetmined defence by the Kearsney team but with little cootdination in attack saw the game drawn 2-2. A midweek game against a talented Thomas More 1st Team made for another exciting contest and another draw. Hilton and Michaelhouse were our next opponents and Kearsney were convincing winners in both matches by 8 goals. A midweek fixture against Northwood saw Kearsney without their marries because ofexam commitments and resulted in the first loss of the season 3-5 despite the determination displayed by the 2nd stringers. An exciting game against Westville followed. The match was disappointing with neither team producing the polo they were capable of. The final result 4-3 in Kearsney's favour. The penultimate game ofthe season was a return match against Maritzburg College. Played in good spirit and producing some good polo, Kearsney emerged winners 5-1. The final game against DHS was disappointing and reflected Kearsney's lack of practice during the last two weeks ofthe season. An exciting finish saw DHSemerge winners by 3 goals Sincere thanks to Chris Herling for his commitment as captain and his leadership and management ofthe team.
