Leif Gjestland (I'Jlb - 1930) KEARSNEY DEVELOPMENT OFFICE I have been appointed to this new position with the brief to making Kearsney more affordable and to ensure the successful marketing of the college with Colleen Ross our Marketing Director. During the past year, Mr Leif Gjestland (Class of 1950), has most generously committed a donation in the memory of his old Kearsney friend,David Stranack(Class of1950). This will assist with a new bursary. Thank you Leif for your spirit of giving back to your old school. KEARSNEY COLLEGE As Old Boys we acknowledge and thank the Headmaster and every member ofstafffor their efforts ofproviding Kearsney with their loyalty and expertise. On behalf of the KCOBC we wish Tony York a successful term as the new Chairman of the Board. Tony is a Kearsney parent with 3 sons and has volunteered 12 years ofcommitment to Kearsney College both at Parent Society and Board level. Tony is a great believer in the philosophy of"give and ye shall receive". There is obvious evidence of this in Tony's life. KCOBC SECRETARIAT Lianne Graves,our secretary, will be leaving at the end of August. Her position has been integrated with the newly established Development office, where Heather Pearse will be maintaining the KCOBC continuity with all matters pertaining to Old Boys. I would like to use this opportunity to convey our thanks to Lianne for the efficient running ofthe Old Boys' secretariat since January. CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD Since our last AGM there has been a changing of the guard. Lauron Buys retired after 5 years in the chair. Lauron gave many hours of effort, time and intellectual capital to ensure the success of Kearsney during his year's office. An appropriate tribute was written in the last issue ofthe Greyhound News. THE PRESIDENT'S AWARD It is my pleasure to announce the President's Award to that Old Boy who has provided outstanding service to the Old Boys ofKearsney College. He has consistently provided Old Boys with a well organised golf day for many years and as a result ofthe popularity there has been a full field every time. Thank you and well done -Jimmy Wood has provided the executive with many years ofloyal service. 150
