Roddy Hulett(Gillingham 1956-1959) is very pleased that the Old Boys Club has tracked him down and enjoys all the news. He congratulates all involved in achieving current high standards at the College and believes Kearsney to be in very good hands. A briefoutline since leaving Kearsney:- 1959-1962 Trainee with Huletts Sugar Limited at Darnall factory. 1961-1965 Louisiana State University, USA B.Sc. Sugar Tech. 1964 - Married Katie. 1966 - 1969 Hulett's Mt Edgecombe factory 1967 - Daughter Ruth Lynne born. 1970 -1974 Hulett's Felixton factory. 1974 - 1976 In Brazil with Deon Hulett. 1977 - 2001 Louisiana, USA. 1989 - Katie passed away. 1989 - Married Marlene. Now they have 6 grandchildren. Winston Cummins(1986-1990) Winston's father,Jim,used to teach at Kearsney. They lived on the grounds for 7 or more years. They immigrated to Canada in 1994. Winston qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He has visited Kearsney twice since then, observing some ofthe developments. He is still an active sailor and has done a couple oftrans-pacific yacht races and 3 world championships. Jim leads the IT group for a large forestry company and his wife is still hair-dressing. They enjoy travelling and look forward to a visit to SA soon. Winston says that those who knew his father(Captain Pugwash)would be surprised to hear that he has taken up jogging and has run many road races. Winston's sister was educated at St Mary's. She is a full-time athlete,sponsored by the Canadian Government.She has achieved well and had the fifth fastest time in the World in the 800m this year and is the second fastest Canadian female ever.Winston finds it amusing to listen to her interviews as a Canadian with a strong South African accent. John Antoni (1993-1994) After leaving Kearsney,John went for 2 years to Cirencester, UK for a farming diploma at the Royal Agricultural College. From there he went to Stellenbosch to the South African Institute of Rugby. He completed his first professional season ofrugby this year in Italy. Whilst there he was invited to represent an international side against Italy. He played centre alongside David Campese.The international side won 55-25.In June,John was selected to be part ofthe Italian National side to tour Namibia,SA, Uruguay and Argentina. Paris Pierides(1977-1980) Pairs lives in Nicosia,Cyprus and is a professional tattooist. He has won five international tattoo conventions. His wife, Alexandra is from Russia. He has lived in six countries, with America being the most important to him. He would like to establish contact with other Old Boys from his year. Staphane Lenoir(1994) lives in Curepipe,Mauritius and wishes to thank the Old Boys for keeping in touch and regrets not being able to attend Founder's Weekend or returning to the school since he did Post Matric in 1994.He works in a family wine distribution company selling a lot of South African wines. This may one day afford him the opportunity to return to SA and Kearsney College for a visit. Jack Crawford(1928-1933) Vice Principal ofKearsney 1965-1972)keeps in touch with the College. He wrote this year to apologise for not being able to attend Founders' Weekend.He lives at Fden Crescent in Durban, ifanyone wishes to visit. Sen. Monty Crook(1928-1933) lives in Pietermaritzburg and still shows a keen interest in news ofthe school. Brett Botha(1996-2000) While studying at UCT,Brett was hit by a car driven by an intoxicated, unlicensed driver, travelling without headlights on 10 November 2001. Brett sustained severe injuries from head to toe. Brett and his family were overwhelmed by love, care and support provided by so many from the Kearsney community.
