Chronicle-2001

In your previous newsletter I read the anecdote written by an Old Boy regarding punishment meted out to young boys circa 1949for 'staring'. I had to smile, for I recall those times and that issue most vividly. By and large,I believe most of us took those assaults on our dignity in our stride, but that having being said, there were practises which, at the psychological level, were devastating to sensitive young boys far away from home. I also recall that there was a science master of the forties who was wont to impose hours of'writing out' for those of us errant enough to misquote a definition by even the I have to wo most minute amount;a punishment which was excmciatingly time-wasting. Anyway, all things considered, the various behaviours exhibited by both masters and boys alike provide rich material for another novel but naturally the identities of all concerned will not be revealed! nder ifthere are any Old Boys out there who might like to have their family or corporate histories recordedforposterity. In conclusion,I have to wonder if there are any Old Boys out there who might like to have their family or corporate histories recorded for posterity. The publishing used to be a huge impediment due to the expense but with the advent of desk-top publishing is now an inexpensive and accessible alternative. i mm 1 V . ?
