Mention must also be made ofJonathan Graves for consistently finishing top in Grade 10. Daniel Bense and Leonard Fienberg have both excelled in the field ofentrepreneurship. They have designed the Benfie Daylight Simulator. This is a device which works with the human brain and controls hormonal production. It allows for people to stay awake at night instead of feeling tired and sleepy. It has been tested and it increases the productivity and concentration of night shift workers by 30%. The profit made from their Finningley Tuck shop has been put towards the Benfie project and they plan to market it next year. They have won numerous awards; Kearsney Businessman of the year and the Richards Bay Minerals, Sanlam and Fair Lady Entrepreneurship competitions. Peter McMahon finished as a finalist(top 5 in S.A.)in the Absa Bank Young Entrepreneurship Competition and spent 10 days in Paris for his efforts. As you are probably aware Peter is our computer whiz kid. Peter Clegg represented South Africa at the Hot Air Balloon Championships held in France in September this year. 35 We have also had a number ofboys on exchange programmes overseas. Andrew Meyerowitz spent the 3rd term in Australia, and Simon King (Scotland), Ross Stacey (Australia) and Sean Coetzee(Australia) were away in the 4th term. It has been and will be interesting talking to them about their experiences. We have had two Australian boys spend time in Finningley this year;Sam Barnier(3rd term)and Mark Leitner (4th term). Sam was a direct exchange with Andrew, and Mark and Sean swopped families for a term. Community service has become a very positive thing in the lives of the boys. It is really encouraging to see so many of our Finningley boys involved in community service work. Justin Howlett has organised two fun days for our boys on the Finningley closed weekends with children from the Durban Children's home.
