ATHLETICS2001 At Kearsney we believe that mass participation is very important and therefore we started the athletics season with the Kearsney Standards competition where virtually every boy in the school was able to compete. It was won by Pembroke. We also believe in teamwork and in the Interhouse Relay competition the better athletes in all the houses worked together and it certainly contributes considerably to house spirit. This competition was won by Gillingham. During the ASA Natal Championships at Kingspark Tim Hayes won the gold medal in the U18 high jump. At the USSASA Southern Coastal Championships the Kearsney athletes proved to be very successful and the following athletes won medals: The Interhouse Championships was very tense this year and it was only the last event ofthe day that we could decide on a winner. To make things even more tense the computer did not add the last event and the trophy could only be presented the next day. In our next meeting we hosted Westville and again it was a very close encounter.
