110 This page is sponsored by: Photographic Club President’s Award Theatre crew This small but extremely active club was led by IanWaghorn, who has to be commended for his dedication to the club over the years. He was the worthy recipient of Photographer of the year. Fellow matric, Nic Andrew, produced amazing wildlife photographs, one of which won the scholar’s prize at the Upbeat photographic competition. Digital photography allows our enthusiastic club members to practice their skills by photographing College events. These are uploaded onto our intranet every week and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thanks to all club members for their input in the club activities and in assisting to record memories that will be cherished by many for years to come. Paula Isaac Before 2011 Kearsney had only produced three candidates who successfully completed Gold for the President’s Award. In 2011 alone four candidates, Nic Andrew,Thomas Rich, Murray Polkinghorne and Jayson Hirshovitz, all successfully qualified for the Gold Award: 72 hours of community service; participating and showing improvement in a recreational activity over 12 months; starting a new skill and showing a vast improvement over 12 months; participating in an adventurous, selfsupported journey over a minimum of 4 days and 3 nights and participating in a residential project over a continuous period of five days. The success of these boys has sparked interest amongst other Kearsney boys and about 30 boys attended the information session for 2012. Rod de Villiers The theatre crew enjoyed another busy year providing the technical expertise needed to stage the many events that are held at the College ranging from this year’s production Scrap Metal to the Choir supper theatres held throughout the year, as well as providing the lighting for the Parlotones show. Under the guidance of Simon Hudson, this small group of boys, continued to grow from strength to strength in their abilities and have been commended for the professional manner in which they carry out their tasks.The interest in this club from junior boys towards the end of the year is encouraging and bodes well for the future of the club.
