Chronicle-2011

SPORT Particular mention must be made of the enthusiasm, commitment, sportsmanship, professionalism, dedication and willingness shown by the staff and boys. The staff in particular must be commended for the many hours forfeited in order to coach and manage the boys. The staff attend various coaching courses and seminars throughout the year in order to familiarise themselves with the latest trends and coaching techniques. This is absolutely vital in order to ensure that our boys are exposed to the best possible coaching techniques. Where ever possible, we make use of professional coaches to assist our coaching staff. This year, for the first time, we employed 8 sport coaches to assist in the various codes. Once again many of our sporting teams were able to participate in festivals and tours in and around the country during the year. This interaction is crucial in the development and growth of Kearsney sportsman. There is no doubt that facilities, technology and proper conditioning play a huge role in the development of sportsman. We have been blessed with the arrival of Andrew Bretherton. The grounds, and in particular the cricket pitches and outfields, are in magnificent condition. The addition of a further pool heater seems to have finally done the trick with the pool temperature. All four squash courts are being renovated. The water based astro turf and the new dugout and scoreboard has ensured that the College has one of the best Hockey facilities in the country. We have also purchased some new software which has been of huge assistance to the boys and coaching staff in analysing sporting performances. It is pleasing to note that 8 sporting codes produced provincial players.
