Chronicle-2011

As always with a new group of players it takes a while to sor t out the best batting order and bowling combinations. Attendance at the Charl van Rooyen festival was a rewarding experience. Coming off a very full winter spor ts programme we were up against some of the top cricket schools in the country over five consecutive days. Considering our limited pre-festival preparation we did well to compete with some of the sides who had already played four or five games before the festival. If our catching, ground fielding and shot selection at critical times had been better we could have come away with two wins out of five. Never theless, the players learnt a lot over the week. Hopefully they will put this into practice in the seasons ahead. I would like to extend a very big thank to all the parents who regularly suppor ted their sons during the season. John Drew RESULTS Played: 17 Lost: 15 Rained out: 2 U14 B The results of the team were mediocre with the only two highlights being victories against strong Glenwood and Maritzburg College teams. Perhaps the team could have had a 50% success rate if rain had not washed out play in two matches. Jordan Ross Elliot opened the bowling in every match and bowled consistently well. Darian Blair showed that he could develop into a competent batsman.
