Chronicle-2011

151 RUGBY 6THTEAM A diverse bunch of boys represented the 6th team this year. Consistency with regards to player selection was almost impossible due to the nature of the ‘ripple effect’ of injuries in higher teams. Many of these boys, who will be in matric next year, showed leadership on the field and have potential to represent higher teams next year. Our low win rate is not a fair reflection on the spirit and pride that this team possess, and we recorded good wins over St. Stithians and St Charles. The highlight of the year was our victory over Glenwood. Attendance at practices was good and the boys were eager to learn and put in the hard work in order to hone their skills. They were a pleasure to coach and I look forward to watching them develop next year. Peter Grunow RESULTS Played: 10 Won: 4 Lost: 6 7THTEAM The team had a mixed season. They enjoyed great wins over Glenwood but stumbled against Michaelhouse and Hilton. From day one, the boys were filled with enthusiasm and drive for their rugby. They attended all sessions and gave their all on a Saturday. The highlight performance was the magnificent victory over Glenwood at Kearsney. The side was down 0-12 at half time and won the game 17-12. I would like to congratulate the boys on their season and on how positively they reflected upon the College. Rob Scott RESULTS Played: 9 Won: 4 Lost: 5 8THTEAM There were a number of factors which affected the results of the 8th team: disruption due to injury and sickness meant that the team was never a balanced unit and seldom the same from week to week. Our policy was “everyone plays” and the boys did just that – with heart and passion. Three of the losses were literally in the last minute and the boys gave as good as they got.
