RUGBY The four th rugby festival held at Kearsney during April was an outstanding success. This would not have been possible without our valued sponsors. In a tough economic climate, our sponsor’s generosity has been overwhelming. Our title sponsor, Blythedale Coastal Resor ts of the eLan property group, chose to once again bring the services of Flagship on board, these specialists in spor t events marketing, adver tising and communications gave the festival a buzz that was not rivalled by any other festival in the country. The Sharks Academy andVarsity College paired up on a unique offering for top players: a bursary to join the Sharks Academy and study through Varsity College. These fantastic awards were given to three players during the closing ceremony of the festival. The KZN Rugby Union provided key suppor t in this relationship and was on hand to issue tickets to the Sharks/ Hurricans match. Mr Price provided apparel to all the teams and coaches and Powerade kept the teams cool with ice baths. Gilber t sponsored all the balls for the festival.World-Class medical back-up was provided by ER24 and the Life Healthcare Group whilst theWiehahn sponsorship allowed everyone to have the best possible view of the games from the stands they provided. To commemorate our 90th year, Kearsney hosted 11 of the top rugby playing schools from around the country whilst a 12th school, Christ’s College New Zealand, added international flare. The line-up was without doubt the strongest to date and the crowds were not disappointed. Festivals of this nature would not be possible without sponsors, the suppor t of the crowds, and of course a dedicated team of Kearsney staff who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the weekend.
