They consistently raised their standard against competitive teams and seemed ready to die on the field for their team and school. The team drew against St Charles in their opening match and from there grew in confidence. They were disciplined on and off the field and displayed their skills with pride and passion. It did not take them long to gel and understand what is expected at this age group: feed the 1st team! The age group is very talented and have the right frame of mind. A special mention must go to the captain,Thabo Nale, for his motivational talks and for always taking the right decision on the field for the benefit of the team. The team enjoyed good suppor t from both parents and the school. Lastly, very special thanks go to Matt Saville for his energy, suppor t, enthusiasm, leadership style and zeal. Manzini Zungu RESULTS Played: 9 Won: 4 Drew: 5 U16 B This team had a fine mix of enthusiasm and skill, which proved effective for the season. The strong defensive style of some players meant that few goals were scored against us. The skill of the midfield and strikers resulted in many wins for the team and they were justifiably awarded the best U16 team. Matt Saville RESULTS Played: 9 Won 6 Lost: 2 Drew: 1 U16 C A very good start to the season with a 4-0 win set the tone for the players. They were encouraged by this and played enthusiastically in every game, until the final two games. They boys were unlucky to be defeated in these games. Marcel Botha RESULTS Played: 6 Won: 4 Lost: 2 U16 D The season included great enjoyment, skill and determination. The good blend of boys added different value to the game. There were many changes during the season and the boys handled these well. They had confidence and with that came victories: the highlight being the 7-0 win over St Charles. Dylan Scott’s commitment to the team as a defender and Mitchell du Toit’s goal from just inside the opposition’s half are just two highlights of the season.
