Chronicle-2011

Impor tant aspects of prefectship were discussed and a list of good and bad characteristics of leaders was generated as a guideline for our term as leaders of the school. We are proud to say that the prefect body excelled in this regard and ensured that they gave of their best in the classroom, on the spor ts field and on the cultural stage. Goal setting was another task completed at the camp and our number one priority for the year was to eradicate bullying. At the boy’s assembly, the principles of the honour code were addressed and the seriousness of physical and psychological bullying was discussed with the boys. With no incidents of extor tion or senior-on-junior harassment this year, a lot of progress has been made in this regard. The effective use of the honour council was vital in ensuring that the moral and ethical conduct of the boys was upheld. In a society where it seems morals are becoming less important, the honour code demonstrates Kearsney’s uniqueness as it strives to produce boys with integrity. Weekly prefect meetings with Mr Willows and the Headmaster proved critical in facilitating better communication between the staff and the boys. In general, this year proved a very successful one, largely due to the passion of the matric body who fulfilled their roles as leaders in the school while showing their suppor t to the prefects. As a form we endured some difficult and challenging times, but the lessons gained from these experiences will last. Our year of service has been one filled with pride and growth. We depart having full faith that the brotherhood of Kearsney will be upheld by the leaders of 2012, and that Kearsney’s legacy will continue.
