Social responsibility is fast becoming core to management teaching at business schools with sustainable business and social and economic development being familiar buzz words. Social engagement is being encouraged as a fundamental part of the syllabi to prepare students adequately for today’s modern global business environment. The argument is that ‘business and societies cannot be viewed as separate entities any longer, as businesses can only operate in a society that can be sustained. Individual online giving driven by social media on the rise Research shows new givers entering the philanthropic movement with smaller more frequent gifts being made online driven by campaigns on social media. Year-overyear online fundraising grew 34.5% in 2010 with online giving representing 7.6% of total gifts. In 2011 the Kearsney board agreed to commence with online giving as part of the campaign being designed towards and beyond Kearsney’s Centenary which we hope will make par tnering Kearsney easier, fun and more dynamic. In 2011 our supporters Educated 55 students who received externally funded bursaries and scholarships; The Optima and Epoch Trusts suppor t continues to expand Mathematics excellence at Kearsney; Suppor t for much needed renovations of the Kearsney Chapel has increased the space to comfor tably accommodate all boys and teachers at Chapel; Kearsney Old Boys collectively and at branch level were involved in special projects demonstrating; leadership as well as faith and thanks for their grounding at Kearsney. Corporate sponsorship made it possible to present three festivals bringing the best talent to the province and Kearsney. They attend intense high performance Mathematics courses which are also a lot of fun.
