Chronicle-2011

50 KCOB KCOB Aim 1: Build good fellowship and common service amongst Kearsney Old Boys The first innovation is the generation project which aims to create a greater sense of identity for each generation. Lawrence Polkinghorne (1991 – KCOB Vice-President) leads this initiative. Each decade reunion now carries a circle name beginning with the Whippets for the first 9 years out of school, extending to the Survivor circle on one’s 50th anniversary. Each generation has a lead team to bring the class convenors in that decade together to inform what communication and activities appeal to them and the role they can play in Kearsney today and in future. ‘Survivors’ lead the way in shaping their identity and role in the life of Kearsney. In 2011 they had three lunches, now have a Survivor Jersey, their own publication the Survivor Times and are actively promoting the Kearsney Legacy Society which encourages people to remember Kearsney in their Will. A second innovation was founding a new KCOB associate membership brand called Kearsney Ambassadors. Here all past parents, grandparents, guardians and staff are formally registered as members. We wish to honour parents for choosing Kearsney for their sons and to more formally include them within the Kearsney family. This aim is to keep them informed by sending the Greyhound eNews and to invite them to attend various events at Kearsney and at KCOB branch level. Please contact Oldboys@kearsney.com to register.
