54 IN Memoriam TRIBUTES Neil Tytherleigh Finningley 1947 Born in Durban, Neil entered Kearsney College in Grade 6 (Standard 4) when there was still a preparatory department. He, together with 21 other juniors, was for tunate enough to be taught by Thea Fraser (later to marry Jack Reece). Neil was also in the group of 20 boys who were the first to be moved from the two senior houses, Finningley and Gillingham, into the Junior House, a small stone weekend residence belonging to the Rutherford-Smiths and acquired by the College in 1942. Neil, a quiet personality, small of stature, with a wry sense of humour, was well respected by his friends. After leaving school, he joined Selgian Claire, suppliers of timber and wood working manufacturing machinery and then Huletts Aluminium, Pietermaritzburg until his retirement.
