78 We celebrated the first year of matrics who have had access to the academic support structures since they arrived at the College. We look forward to the results at the end of the year, which will prove the benefit of such a programme in an academic institution such as Kearsney. This year also saw the latest evolution in the department with a move towards providing more specialised suppor t for boys in the middle school. This will equip the boys with the skills they will need to cope academically in the senior phase of their schooling. We are ecstatic with the progress of the boys. After five years, our programme is one that is earning Kearsney the admiration of the education field for the progressive stance towards holistic education that it represents. However, the greatest reward is in watching the development of the boys who would not have had the chance to experience Kearsney life due to their learning difficulties. Many of these boys are proving to be strong assets at the College. Jolene Ostendorf Inclusion department 2011 was an exciting year.
