98 Under 15E Basketball Term 1 Regular players: Njabulo Gumede, Vincent Metzer, Sphe Mnguni, Vumezitha Ngcobo, William Stainton, Ethan Sumner Term 3 and 4 Regular players: Zachary Barrett, Lethu Dladla, Clayton Fripp, Brendon Lock, Vincent Metzer, Javashkaar Naidoo, Dylan Olivier, Cole Rencken, William Stainton, Ethan Sumner The boys in the U15E team (‘E’ for enthusiastic) were a committed group of boys who arrived at practice timeously. Unfortunately, their enthusiasm did not covert to many wins but nonetheless they dedicated themselves to going back to the drawing board, working on defence and shooting baskets. The boys’ attitude made all the difference to the team, they were hardly ever bitter about losing and carried themselves with dignity when we won. Results: Played 8, Won 1, Lost 7 Mrs Rox-Anne du Plessis Coach Under 14A Basketball Term 1 Regular players: Aidan Albrecht, Zipho Cele, Alexander Gordon, Bonga Mbhele, Salusiwe Mqobongo, Njabulo Ngcobo, Zibusiso Ngobese, Lathi Sali, Marcus Scheepers, Neo Scott Terms 3 and 4 Regular players: Zipho Cele, Kamva Khamba, Salusiwe Mqobongo, Zibusiso Ngobese, Andile Nomvete, Lathi Sali, Marcus Scheepers, Neo Scott This year the U14A team had very few players who had played basketball before and many were being introduced to basketball for the first time. A great deal of work was necessary before the team was ready to play at the standard expected of a Kearsney College team. The boys were fortunate that there was a relatively easy couple of fixtures to ease into the season which meant they were able to work on their understanding of how to play the game. They worked hard at practice, improving their individual skill sets. The team hard in the off-season, and several of them started to show promise as basketball players. It was more about the process than the result for the boys, and this strategy resulted in some good wins for the team. It shows what a group people can achieve when they are committed and enjoying themselves while having fun. The end of the year saw several injuries to key players, and the team lost some of their identity with new people filling the ranks. However, except for a really bad loss to Westville Boys High School, the other two losses were competitive games which could have gone either way. It was a pleasure to coach this team and I hope they enjoyed the year as much as I did. Results: Played 10, Won 7, Lost 3 Mr Lindokuh l e Ce l e Coach Under 15D Basketball Term 1 Regular players: Ulizwi Buthelezi, Qhawe Diko, Avuzwa Gazi, Mathibela Kekana, Jamol Langeni, Giovan Linton, Kade Muller, Lwandle Ngema, Jezreel Naicker, Calem Schulz Terms 3 and 4 Regular players: Lwandle Bhengu, Qhawe Diko, Marvin Gama, Lonwabo Hlophe, Kudzai Kamwendo, Sbongakonke Maphumulo, Jezreel Naicker What stood out the most with this team was their willingness to participate. They arrived at each game, willing and determined and this approach resulted in a tremendous unity within the team. The games were competitive and could often have gone either way. Unfortunately, the result often favoured the opposition. The boys approach made practices enjoyable. Sport is about developing character and this is what these young men have achieved this season.
