They also participated in the St Andrews College basketball festival which was an enjoyable experience, and which introduced them to new opposition they would not normally play against. They bonded as a team and had a great deal of fun even despite a long and taxing bus trip. Practices were well-attended and competitive. The team, being novices in the spor t, embrace learning the skills required to play with gusto and enthusiasm. This was reflected in their matches which showed steady improvement as the season evolved. Some of the players improved to such an extent that they were invited to join the A-team at the St Andrews basketball festival during the Michaelmas holidays. They came back and the improvement in their skills was evident in the way they played the game. The team fished the season strong, only stumbling in the final game of the season losing it narrowly. It was an enjoyable experience coaching this group of young men, some who have some natural talent and ability which should stand them in good stead as the go forward with their basketball journey. Some of them are destined to leave their mark on basketball at the College in one way or another.
