We did, however, achieve what we set out to – which was to build a cricketing culture, unearth new talent and win more games than we lost. We were fortunate to have a solid base, provided by our senior players, which allowed the youngsters in our side to feed on their energy and experience. Mention must be made of departing Grade 12s Jordan Bamber, Chase Kelly and Jared Brien who were the glue who kept it all together. There were some very pleasing achievements with the bat and ball, as displayed in our results, and we look forward to more of the same in 2020. The highlight of the year must be chasing down 250 against a strong Glenwood side which contained a number of provincial players. The tightest game of the year was undoubtedly at the St Albans Festival against the powerful St Stithians side where we lost by one run in the final over. We recorded some impressive wins against quality opposition this year and more importantly, we have grown as a team. Our future looks promising. Coach Jordan Gregory, as our resident cricketing professional, has woven some magic with this diverse side and has focused intently on developing a cricket culture. This culture focuses on team dynamics and playing for the team. Amidst the hard work, fitness and skill development, there is still time for fun. It has led to a disciplined, exciting brand of cricket being played and we will, without doubt, give a good account of ourselves going forward. The majority of this side returns next year, and we aim to make our presence felt as 2020 unfolds. I would like to thank the Kearsney Headmaster, senior management and our cricket parent body for their unwavering suppor t and positive input throughout the season. I would also like to thank Neil Peacock, MIC of Cricket, for a sterling job well done. Thanks too to Mr Peter Kirsten for his selfless effor ts as our statistician and co-coach. Bring on 2020!
