Chronicle-2019

111 Cricket the elation of winning under such pressure, Kearsney College entered their next fixture against Durban High School with much more confidence and set about chasing down a target of 160. Well on track for 16 of the 20 overs, the wheels started coming off towards the end of our innings, but the tail-enders nevertheless managed to draw level—sending the game to yet another super over! Despite an expensive spell earlier in the game, Craig Phillips once again backed himself to produce the goods under pressure and restricted Durban High School to only five runs, three short of the eight Kearsney College had set them. The boys continued to carry their winning ways into the last fixture against Hilton College, ending the year off with three consecutive victories. Mention must be made of Joshua Lee’s consistent contribution with the bat, which often served as a platform and inspiration for the rest of the team. Some excellent bowling at the death kept Kearsney College in the game against Glenwood High School, with both teams ending up on 145 after each of their 20 overs, introducing the prospect of an exciting super over. Craig Phillips stepped up to find the stumps twice in three balls, leaving Kearsney College only a run to win, which they duly scored within three balls themselves. Buoyed by
