Chronicle-2019

122 Hockey Hockey Overview The commitment and enthusiasm of the hockey staff attributed to the success of the year, but our boys’ participation and energy was the primary reason for the great season. Festivals play an integral role in the development of skills and techniques for the boys and their coaches. The 1st XI and U16A teams both attended two festivals in the holidays and achieved fantastic results. The 1st XI won all six of their matches at the Founders Festival while the U16As went unbeaten in both their festivals at Dale College and Michaelhouse. The U14As attended a festival at Parktown, improving significantly during a tough set of fixtures. The team used this festival as an opportunity to learn about their strengths and weaknesses and focus on developing different elements for the season. Special mention goes to the 1st XI who achieved an unbeaten record at home on the Mason Astro for all Saturday fixtures as well as being ranked in the top 10 in South Africa at the close of the season. The U16As achieved an excellent set of results during the season and were also ranked in the top 10 in the country in their age group.
